Vince is 18 Months

We just wanted to update you on Vince. He is 18 months and just had his check up. He is 34 3/4 inches tall and 26.5 lbs. In height he is in the 97th percentile and weight the 50th percentile. For being a month early he has no sign of it and for people that didn't know that when he was born he was 5 lbs 12 oz and 19 inches long. He also spent the frist 19 days of his life in the NICU. When we tell people that they cant believe it because he's so tall. They also don't think hes only 18 months. We think he will be a very tall boy.

Mark E. loves raccoons so Vince gave him a ornament and we got him some shirts.
We gave Mark and Colleen the canner they have been wanting and looking for.
Mark, Colleen, Devin and Lynette gave us a Microwave.

Elk Hunt

Justin sleeping in on the morning after the kill. Mark and Justin were tired from hauling the elk meat out about a mile in the dark. =)

This was the base camp at Elk Mountain. It was cold but we only got snowed on one time during the 5 days we were up there.
Looking from Elk Mountain north into Idaho. There are about 80 head of elk on the hillside just above the long line of trees. You might have to zoom in to see them. Somewhere in that group is the big boy who got away thanks to 3 other hunters who scared the elk during Mark's sneak opening day.
Looking west towards the Jarbidge mountains. Unfortunately a large portion of the Jarbidge wilderness burned last year. The fire was started by lightning and the Humboldt National Forest had recently implemented a "let it burn" policy and they let the whole place burn to the ground. Morons. Still quite beautiful though.

There was a wide variety of vegetation from pine trees, mahogony, junipers, quakies, manzanita, sagebrush, willows, buck brush, and lots of grassland.
Here is Mark's 5 point bull. He was almost within shooting distance of a much larger bull when this guy spotted him and sounded the alarm. Rather than take a low percentage shot he opted to shoot the small bull instead. Congratulations to Mark who had been applying for an elk tag for 12 years and finally got one! Nevada has limited habitat for elk and consequently only issues a small number of tags each year.
